Qualifications and Skill Set: 

• Required Massachusetts DESE Licensure for Principal PreK-6
• Masters Degree in Educational Leadership or related field in Education
• At least three years’ minimum experience as a teacher or related service provider with evidence of strong leadership ability
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable 
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills

Role and Responsibilities:

• Serve as the instructional leader for all teachers and building staff, following a clearly articulated mission and vision that leads to sustainable student achievement outcomes
• Create an environment where staff work collaboratively to reach high levels of student growth; and maintain a culture of high standards and positive expectations that all children can perform at high levels
• Model and promote the continuous use of data to inform practice and drive decision-making and instruction
• Supervision and evaluation of teacher performance that results in actionable feedback
• Support/provide ongoing professional development in instructional practices, curriculum, and technology
• Determine the needs of parents and community members and involve them in decision-making
• Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and student behavior and learning
• Strive to ensure equity among programs and learning opportunities for staff, students, and parents
• Ensure school wide implementation of District Strategic Plan Initiatives
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
